What are the requirements for School Counselors?

All school Counselors are credentialed by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing and possess a Pupil Personnel Services Credential in the state of California. In most cases a master’s degree is required.

How can parents help?
Active parental involvement in the activities of the guidance and counseling program are essential if students are to make informed choices. Parents can assist by always encouraging their children to do their best in school.   Attending school functions helps to encourage positive home-school relationships and is a good opportunity for parents to see and learn what is happening at school. Parents can also assist through teaching their children that learning is important and tied to future career choices and career success.
Where can I obtain more information?
For more information on this program, contact your child’s counselor. Appointments are recommended.
